thirsty checked out magic cobra tatto society (775 driggs ave, 717-782-TATS) and was not disappointed. their williamsburg shop was friendly and laid back without any of the faux metal pretension that makes most spots unbearable.

check ‘em out whether you want something new or something fixed. ask ‘em to turn up the bass, and they probably will.

hard rock international launched its jimi hendrix signature series on february 9 (www.hardrock.com).

pieces on display include a fender stratocaster with a visual representation of the legend’s most recognizable songs on a guitar image designed collaboratively in 1970 by hendrix and artist alan aldridge.

the back stairwell of thirsty records’ brooklyn outpost is perpetually littered with copious empty bottles and endless cigarette butts by hipsters fresh from the provinces attempting to create an “authentic” layer of good old new york city sleaze like they saw on television as children.

however, some truly hip soul residing in the building recently cleaned up the dilettante mess, and left these specific instructions for the hipsters spelled out in their own discarded smokes on the floor.

thirsty thinks this is about as “authentic” a NYC experience as can be had nowadays.

thirsty salutes the coolness of cleaning the back stairwell, and congratulates a neighbor on a highly hilarious piece of message art.

the medium is the message is the medium, and so on… brooklyn-style!
